What is User Experience?

It is the experience that a web surfer gets when he or she lands on your website.  It is the difference between a hit and a customer.  Hits are good, customers are better.  If the “hit” has a quality experience they will turn into a potential customer, if not, they won’t.  Simple as that.

Many SEO Companies out there will do all sorts of SEO and drive traffic to your website.  Then, you wonder why you don’t get sales.  The SEO company is in India and they know nothing about lead generation or user experience, but they are decent at SEO.  So, you just paid a whole slew of money, your Google Analytics has improved, but the bank account has not.  Long before we initiate any SEO or online marketing campaign we evaluate this aspect first.  If it is not up to speed we let our customers know.  We don’t just take the SEO money and run knowing full well we will get traffic but no leads.  We first tell all our clients the importance of the user experience before we begin any seo campaign.

I knew a guy that had about 6000 unique visits a month on a furniture sales website and rarely made even one sale per month.  He invested a ton of money into advertising but with no positive results.  Well, he got the people to the site, but the only thing they clicked was the back button on the browser.  Not good.  I explained to him the importance of user experience, we redesigned and creating more useful functionality, and today he has about 12,000 unique visits and makes 30-50 sales per month.
